As we said when we released our statement on Saturday, the situation surrounding Corona virus is fast changing, and being reviewed daily. We have thought long and hard about the actions we are taking both individually and, as a company. It is with a heavy heart, we have made the decision to suspend all driving lessons until further notice.
I can assure you that this is not a decision we have taken lightly, and one that we had hoped we would never need to make. However, with the government taking actions on social gatherings, (closing pubs, clubs, gyms etc) and today’s push from the government regarding social distancing, we believe that this is the only sensible course of action to take. We can take many extra precautions in the car to keep it as sterile as possible, but we must appreciate that anyone could have the COVID-19 virus and show no symptoms and as an airborne virus, there are no guarantees that can be given.
We appreciate, of course, that there is no industry, anywhere in the world, that isn’t affected by the Corona virus, and we know that each and every one of you will have your own challenges and worries ahead. Where possible, we believe that now is the time to stay home, and keep yourselves and your loved ones as safe as possible, by limiting the spread of the virus. We know that there are financial implications on everyone, and we know that test availability may impact when some of you may want to resume lessons. Please be assured that this is not easy for any of us, and all of our instructors will be happy to discuss your individual situation. If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact your instructor and we will do our very best to accommodate your needs.
This is a hard time for all of us. Rest assured though, that, whilst I want to get up and running again as quickly as possible, the safety of our instructors, and our customers will always be our priority. Head office will remain operational throughout this suspension of business, so, if you have any concerns, or, are looking to start driving lessons when all of this is over, Dale can still be reached through all of the usual channels. Now is a great time to revise for your theory test too, and that is something that we would wholeheartedly encourage. We appreciate there will be a backlog once testing resumes, and waiting times may be a bit longer than normal, but, we are anticipating that theory testing will resume before practical testing, and it is impossible to be too prepared.
Once again, I want to reiterate that we are in this together, and this is a difficult time for us all and I thank you for your understanding. Stay safe, and for now, look after what is important. I am confident that life will get back to normal, and we will come out of the other side of this crisis stronger. There is no other country in the world I would rather be facing this pandemic in.
