I’m sure I don’t need to go into detail about the situation in the world at the moment. Advice given by the government is changing on a daily basis, and it is a confusing and concerning time that is affecting everybody. We, at Weelz Driving School, are no different.
We have instructors still available and working for you. Please be assured that we are all taking appropriate precautions – carrying sanitiser gel and anti-bacterial wipes, and that we are doing our utmost to make the car environment as sterile as we possibly can. As it stands, lessons can and are continuing, although of course, we are monitoring central advice on this position and will communicate to our pupils any updates as quickly as we are able to.
Today the DVSA have made some decisions regarding driving tests. All theory tests have been suspended, initially for a 1 month period, until 20th April. In addition, all driving tests have been suspended for a period of “up to 3 months”. This will clearly have an impact on our business and more importantly, on your learning journey. Anyone who had a theory test booked, should receive an email informing them of the cancellation, and will have the money refunded to the account which booked the test. Anyone who had a practical test will have it automatically re-booked, and a new date confirmed by email – this can be rearranged if the new date isn’t convenient but please be aware that the system may be running a bit slower than usual. Be prepared for the fact that your rearranged date is likely to be in late June/early July. We understand and appreciate how frustrating this is if you were preparing for a test however I’m sure you are aware that this is a situation that nobody could have predicted and the response is absolutely unprecedented.
We are very aware that we are not the only ones who are affected in this current situation by both the uncertainty and financial implications. Every person, in every industry, is affected. People are scared for their futures, facing financial hardship and worrying about losing their jobs altogether. We are sensitive to this position and assure you that we understand – we are all in this together. Please talk to your driving instructor and tell them where you stand and we will do our very best to accommodate your needs or requirements. If you are in a position to continue your lessons, we will work as hard as we can to ensure your lessons are impacted as little as possible.
If you are on our waiting list, waiting to start lessons, please be assured we have not forgotten you. We will get you started as quickly as we can. With the potential of delayed lessons in the coming days so more new spaces will open up. Similarly, if you are on the waiting list but not in a position to start, please let us know and we will adjust it accordingly.
We’re all in this together. Please stay safe. We will get through this and will come out the other side as a stronger company, as a stronger community and as a stronger country.
Thank you for being with us and if you have any further enquiries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and we will do our very best to answer them for you.
