It is with deep regret that we are forced to announce that from Thursday 5th November 2020, we are having to cease all driving lessons, in line with the latest government lockdown restrictions.
The Prime Minister announced on Saturday that the month long lockdown would come into force on that date, and there was a glimmer of hope that we may be able to continue working. However, the DVSA has today announced that “All driver and rider training and tests” are suspended until Wednesday 2nd December 2020.
If you have a test booked (Theory or practical) during that time then, unfortunately, it will be cancelled. At this stage it isn’t clear how they are managing these cancellations. We are hopeful there will be more details released in the coming days. If you are affected by that, please do stay in contact with your instructor and we will update you as soon as we know anything ourselves.
During the Summer lockdown, there were special provisions in place for key workers, who could book tests and train towards them. At this stage there is no confirmation that this will happen, and, as this lockdown is only 4 weeks, we don’t currently think this is going to happen for this lockdown. We would advise you to watch the DVSA’s social media accounts for any announcements regarding this.
We are also aware that we have a long waiting list at the moment, with a lot of people waiting to start lessons with us. Regrettably, this lockdown will add at least 4 weeks onto the start time you were quoted. If you are thinking of starting lessons in 2021 at any point, I would advise to get in touch as soon as possible to get your name on that waiting list. We appreciate the waiting time is annoying, but it is out of everyone’s control, and we thank you for your patience.
No-one is more frustrated about this latest lockdown than we are. We had just started to get back to some sort of normality, and this feels like a bit of a step backwards. As ever though, the safety of our pupils and our instructors will always be our number 1 priority. We will continue to update when we have news and we will be back as soon as it is safe to be back. Please stay safe out there and we will all bounce back stronger from this, as quickly as possible.
